Off Topic How exactly does the notifications work?

I hope this can go here, it was this or 'Site Problems'. And it doesn't feel like a site problem to me. Anyways, I set up the 'watch' option on many threads. And in the screenshot is how I set up the notifications, but I still get bombarded with emails about simple comments on posts that include images. Did I do something wrong or am I misunderstanding how it works? I appreciate any help!
