Does anyone know how to record a livestream from instagram? And I don't just mean screen recording. Is there an actual way to grab the video while its being streamed live to download with a program or anything else?

Google Chrome (PC), has an extension called [MasterReco. Downloader for Instagram Live].

"MasterReco. Downloader for Instagram Live" This program uses screen recording with shit quality, if you want stream recording you must use: 1. Install this app "Live Cat"(). There is a version for chrome . It gives you link and use this site - (mediatools dot cc). Your download is not done through the site itself, but through a script. This removes the issue of authorization. The downside is that sometimes the video breaks. 2. Hardcore variant - PyInstaLive - - But there are many problems with authorization, Instagram often blocks the account.
