Off Topic Why are so many hosting sites so slow?
Gofile, Sendvid, and many other links are so slow, why is this? Are they smaller sites that can't offer the upload speeds like YouTube and Pornhub? The only one that seems decently fast is Megafile, but once you hit the crappy small daily cap of 5GB, you have to pay. Sometimes waiting on a Gofile video to buffer is like being on dialup..and I have 400mbps download speeds.
Re: Off Topic Why are so many hosting sites so slow?
Hosting providers' price is based not only on transferred data amount but also on bandwidth, probably they are saving some money by limiting it so downloading is slower when too many people connect. I don't mind, even 200KB/s is enough for me, it's free after all.
Re: Off Topic Why are so many hosting sites so slow?
Yup its probably based on traffic...
Re: Off Topic Why are so many hosting sites so slow?
Probably traffic
Re: Off Topic Why are so many hosting sites so slow?
Traffic plus these sites are businesses first. Slow hosting is cheaper than fast. So that's why most push you too sign up for premium.
Re: Off Topic Why are so many hosting sites so slow?
same reason why mega is good but needs you to pay to keep watching, they are only free to entice you and make you pay
Re: Off Topic Why are so many hosting sites so slow?
It's much easier to monitize youtube than a porn website. Even pornhub has issues with mastercard and visa periodically pulling out because of the publicity issues related to doing business with a porn website. These file hosters let anyone upload almost anything so they are forced to get advertisements from companies that don't care about their reputation at all at rock bottom prices. If you're using a file hoster, your also probably smart enough to be using a adblocker which further fucks with their profits. For what it's worth. I can usually get 5-10mb/s or higher when downloading from gofile or bunker, the playback can be rough but the download speed is fine. Slows down a bit during peak demand.
Re: Off Topic Why are so many hosting sites so slow?
To add onto what others here are saying, some hosts are in different countries or continents. That kinda distance also builds up massive ping and slows download speeds. Right now traffic is the most reasonable explanation but physical distance to server matters a lot
